Unpad stresses the importance of research that covers its scientific values, as well as practical and applicative significances.

“One of our missions is related to developing excellent local research that contributes to advancement of science and national development,” said the Vice Rector III, Dr. med. Setiawan, when met at his office in Jatinangor on Monday (19/11).

In relation to the above, Unpad, referring to the university’s research guideline, has developed Major Research Plan (RIP) that will accommodate all researchers in Unpad. It covers five main pillars of research that embraces food, environment, health, energy, policies, and Information and Arts. To strengthen the five pillars, Unpad recently organized a workshop on Formulating Research Orientation for Future Unpad in BTC Hotel, Bandung. In addition, the workshop served to generate technical planning for clusters that each pillar sustains that include specific topics of research within respective disciplines.

The head of the organizing committee, Dr. Eng. Camelia Panatarani, M.Si., stated that the workshop aimed to create a roadmap for research and and its plan. The roadmap will make all research that Unpad lecturers conduct will no longer be personal but will be established as a trademark unique to Unpad.

“When a professor has to come his retirement, it does not mean that his ideas also come to the same end. There shall be regeneration; research will be organized starting from basic to applied research of which outcomes may as well be product knowledge or policies. Not simply research reports,” said she.

The organization of pieces of research will also benefit students when they are to conduct their own research. The roadmap will enable them to advance the research instead of doing it all over again from the very start. In addition, according to Dr. med Setiawan, the research will trigger the establishment of partnership with other institutions or individuals as well as business practitioners.

In relation to that, Unpad facilitates the researchers with tools including preparing excellent human resources that will help the researchers when conducting their research.
