Unpad Joins Interdisciplinary Consortium on Urban Environment and Health in Asia

[Unpad.ac.id, 26/02/2013] The society demands that universities create competent individuals capable of overcoming the more complex problems that the society nowadays faces by means of interdisciplinary and multidimensional approaches..

To build extraordinary human resources, students from various disciplines should be given opportunities to share their thoughts. International network, therefore, is fundamental to establish academic communication and interdisciplinary research.

Unpad recently sent its delegates,  Parikesit, MSc., PhD and Dr. Ardini Saptaningsih Raksanagara dr.,MPH.,. to the1stInternational Symposium “Interdisciplinary Consortium on Urban Environment and Health in Asia, held in University of Tokyo, from February 22nd to 23rd. The symposium is officially opened by Prof. Masako Egawa, as the Executive Vice President of University of Tokyo. Also present in the symposium were representatives from AIT, Mahidol University, Tammasat University, and Chulalongkorn University as well as World Bank and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

The main programs of the consortium consist of student and staff exchange, credit transfer, interdisciplinary classes, and public lecture. University of Tokyo helps the consortium by donating several sets of video conference (polycom) for all universities that the consortium hosts.

Unpad installs the polycom in the graduate school building. The instrument is to be used in a first lecture to held April on Urban Environment and Health in Asia. Speaking in the lecture are 15 professors from University of Tokyo. Unpad students are encouraged to attend the lecture and take part in internationalizing their universities and contributing to advancing their future programs.
