[Unpad.ac.id, 1/03/2013] In order increase research activities in Unpad, the university recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Research and Development Agency (Balitbang), Ministry of Agriculture Republic of Indonesia on Friday (1/03) in the Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung.
The signing was conducted during the Coordinating Session of Researchers, Engineers, Trainers, and Librarians of Agriculture Research and Development. Unpad was represented by the rector, whereas the Balitbang was represented by Dr. Ir. Haryono, M.Sc. According to the rector, the MoU will put emphasis on developing research in Unpad. “Unpad and Balitbang share one thing in common, which is conducting pieces of research of which results will benefit the society at large.”
The rector added that there are five goals that the MoU will lead to. First, all partnership programs should be oriented downward, meaning that the programs will directly benefit the society. Second, Balitbang will be more involved in developing pieces of research that Unpad has been conducting. “We are inviting researchers and professors in Balitbang to take part in this university by becoming sponsors or thesis advisors,” said he.
Third, researchers in Balitbang are encouraged to pursue further studying in this university. Fourth, Unpad should be made available for collective research results to be displayed, becoming somewhat like a showroom. Lastly, Unpad will give special attention to research and increase fund for independent research.
Dr. Haryono showed agreement to these goals since they are oriented more on increasing the quality of agriculture in Indonesia. “We’ve been holding partnership programs. But this will definitely create new meanings in terms of developing research and science combined with creativity,” he concluded.
