Shape and Meaning of the Symbol of Universitas Padjadjaran
The shape and meaning of the Universitas Padjadjaran Symbol were established based on Rector’s Decree No. 903/H6.1/KEP/HK/2010. The symbol is also protected by trademark rights, registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights under Number: IDM000297688.
The symbol consist of six parts:
• Torch
Kujang (cleaver)
• Wings (=leaves)
• Wheel
• Lotus
• Pentagon, a shield in the shape of a five-sided figure.

Torch symbolizes knowledge and serves as the light of life, bringing happiness and guiding toward nobility of character.
Kujang (cleaver) is a traditional Sundanese weapon that symbolizes strength and courage to protect rights and truth, which is the duty of knowledge.
Wings (painted as fern leaves) represent the effort to achieve a higher level of quality.
Wheel symbolizes continuous dynamic activity that follows the advancements and developments of modern technology.
Lotus Flower represents education and culture.
Pentagon, a five-sided shield, symbolizes Pancasila, the state’s foundation which is the guideline for all university efforts and activities in the interests of the state and nation.
Yellow represents glory and nobility of character (foundation).
Red represents cleanliness (the flame of the torch and the wheel).
White represents honesty and purity (the kujang and lotus).
Black represents steadfastness, strength, and resilience (the wings).
