[Unpad.ac.id, 2/02/2016] Faculty of Law Universitas Padjadjaran together with the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) and Branch Executive Council (DPC) of Indonesia Advocates Association (AAI) Bandung organized an Advocate Profession Special Training (PKPA) Batch XIII, from 1 to 23 February 2016 in Graduate Building FH Unpad, Jln. Banda No. 42 Bandung. A total of 60 participants attended this PKPA.

Head of DPC of Indonesia Advocates Association Bandung Dr. H. Efran Helmi Juni, S.H., M.Hum. said that PKPA even is one of the implementations of Law No. 18 Year 2003 re advocates. “One of the points of the law is that one requirement to become an Advocate is participate in PKPA in addition to the bar exam,” said Efran during his opening speech for PKPA XIII, Monday (1/02).
The opening of PKPA entitled “Enhancing the Role of Advocate in Law Enforcement”, was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Law, Padjadjaran University, Dr. An An Chandrawulan, SH, LLM., Head of DPP AAI Muh. Ismak, SH, M.H., Head of DPC Peradi Bandung Roely Panggabean, as well as few senior members of AAI.
During PKPA, prospective advocates were given material according to Peradi curriculum, covering basic material of procedural law (litigation), non-material litigation and other legal skills materials. At the end of the training, the advocate candidates will sit on the Advocate Professional Exam (UPA).
Efran said, after following PKPA, prospective lawyers would then be required to do an internship in the office of an advocate. These internship activities are special concern for DPP AAI. He hoped the Governing Council could facilitate process of apprenticeship that had become obstacle for prospective advocates.
“The candidates should be given opportunity to learn professionally so that they can become advocates professional figure,” said Efran.
Meanwhile, Ismak said that advocate profession is currently the most desirable profession. However, there are few aspects that must be observed by an advocate, i.e. skills and mental. Therefore in front of PKPA participants, Ismak said that this training is a vehicle for improving advocate skills.
“The profession of advocates requires high skill. Advocates without skill will not lead to anything, “added Ismak.
He stated his appreciation for the event organized by PKPA and FH Unpad, going for the 13th times. “This is the most often PKPA has been carried out in collaboration with a University,” said Ismak.
Responding to such appreciation, Dr. An An hoped that the collaboration of holding PKPA with AAI and Peradi can continue to run smoothly. “This activity is one of the fulfillment of Tridharma in FH Unpad.
