Supercamp Unpad To Provide Health Service to Thousands of Cimerak Pangandaran Locals

[Unpad.ac.id, 11/08/2016] This year, Universitas Padjadjaran will host the annual “Supercamp” with the theme “Cimerak in HEALTH (Harmony Elaboration for Life and Humanity)” in the District Cimerak, District Pangandaran on 12 to 14 August 2016. This activity was routinely held every August with social intention as a one of the Tridarma pillars realization of college education, research, and community engagement.

IMG_8947Supercamp activities would feature series of events such as health screening, mass circumcision, cataract surgery, other health services, as well as the inauguration of the “Earth Walagri Padjadjaran”. Travel activities of Supercamp or also known as Curriculum Integration was initiated by Fakulas Medicine Universitas Padjadjaran in 2012 in Rancabuaya-South Garut, then Cidaun-South Cianjur (2013), Ujung Genteng South Sukabumi (2014), and Cipatujah-Tasikmalaya South (2015). This year, almost all faculties in Unpad participated in the event.

Early April, Rector Unpad, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, and several leaderships of Unpad, among others, Dean of Faculty of Arts Yuyu Yohana Risagarniwa, PhD., Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Yoni Fuadah Syukriani, dr., Sp.F., MSi., DFM., Prof. Dr. Engkus Kuswarno, M.S., Prof. Dr. Ir. Roni Kastaman, M.SIE., Prof. Dr. Ir. Elin Harlia, M.S., Prof. Dr. Ir. Junianto, M.P., Prof. Dr. Cece Sobarna, M.Hum, and Head of Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology FK Unpad/RSHS Dicky Mulyadi, dr., SpOT(K) conducted work to Pangandaran Regency and was welcomed by the Regent and leadership of the regency.

Participanting in this activity are students at Universitas Padjadjaran in District Cimerak. With specialty of medicine consists of both courses Bachelor of Medicine, Midwifery Diploma, Professional Physician and Specialist Education. They would be dispersed to 11 villages in Cimerak sub district, Pangandaran, with one of the targets of activities to help the community in receiving excellent health services. While activities and Hernioraohy and Cleft Lip Surgery would be held in RS Banjar Patroman.

The event will be attended by more than 1,000 participants and is expected to support health system in Pangandaran regency to be managed independently, effectively and primarly. This event can also build closeness between Pangandaran government and the faculty through the development of “Earth Walagri Padjadjaran”.

Pangandaran Regent H. Jeje Wiradinata welcomed this program and expected full support from Universitas Padjadjaran to jointly develop the newly formed Pangandaran district. Meanwhile Head of Cimerak, Tavian Soekartono, SE., added that the event will spread good effect also for the field of tourism.

“Besides setting students closer to citizens, the activity will also result in Cimerak gaining more popularity to increase tourist arrivals to our districts, so the economy could be in parallel relying field of tourism”, he said.

In the main event on Saturday, August 13, 2016 folk festival in the village of Kertaharja will be held and planned to attended by West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, the inauguration of the Earth Walagri Padjadjaran and activities in the village Legokjawa Video Conference, continued around visiting various service activities in other villages.

For health care, the Faculty of Medicine plans to serve 4,000 people for Polyclinics, 100 Mass Circumcision, 10-person operation Cleft Lip, 15 surgery Hernia, 55 Minor Surgery, 100 eyes of cataract surgery, 600 lab tests, 600 participants of the promotion of health, 600 participants antenatal care (including implants, IUDs and ultrasound), 400 participants skin screening and counseling, and 200 patients to the bones density examination. *
