According to CEDS director, Arief Anshory Yusuf, public debates on development parameter only lead to single claim of its success from the government and apathy from the people at large. The problem lies not on the faulty methods of indicators assessment but on minimum indicators that do not necessary apply to the real conditions the people are facing. Development indicators are generally presented in average based on per capita income and often ignore the fact that development is only enjoyed only by few.

As an institution responsible for research and community service, CEDS launches keberpihakan.org. Through this portal, public can always monitor the success of development from various indicators based on people’s income level.

In addition, the portal presents studies deemed relevant with the socio-economic development through detailed interpretation and anaylisis.

“We hope that the portal will become the very medium by which the society can access all indicators on alternative development that contribute more to people’s welfare. Government policies will accordingly be controlled and benefit the society at large,” said Yusuf.

Through this portal, journalists and other community groups can get access to more reliable pieces of information.
