[Unpad.ac.id, 4/08/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran through UPT Archive in cooperation with National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) held socialization of the National Archival Information System (SIKN) and the National Archival Information Network (JIKN) at Lab. Computer Faculty of Medicine, Jatinangor, Thursday (4/08). This event was attended by managers of archive in a number of work units and faculties in Unpad.
In this system, Unpad become one of the institutions chosen by ANRI to be given stimulus to be a hub of a national network. The word “node” here can be defined as institutions that are members of the national archives information network.
On the occasion, Reza Bahrudin of ANRI explained that SIKN is an application used by a network node to collect and manage data and archival information. SIKN is limited in use by a specific number of users.
“Those who are not joining the network cannot use SIKN. It’s one of the security to maintain archives, with private log-in only for those who are registered, “said Reza.
Meanwhile JIKN is an archive search engine that can be used by the general public. In JIKN, people can find previously collected archival information and managed by the network node in SIKN. The archive that can be accessed by the public at JIKN is archives open to the public.
“SIKN serves as a data collector module and JIKN for media search, “said Reza.
Reza said SIKN and JIKN provide merit as a medium according to the rules of archival records management, facilitating access to search the archive, as well as a means of saving the archive. Reza pointed out, if the agency experienced a disaster that resulted in the destruction of archives (physically), the agency still has the archive files in ANRI “cloud”.
The same thing also stated by Head of Unit Archive, Prof. Dr. H. Nandang Alamsah Deliarnoor, SH., M. Hum. With the SIKN and JIKN application, archives of Universitas Padjadjaran can be safely stored.
“With this, we have the data in the” cloud “. So if there is a disaster, we have a backup archive, “he said.
The archives are accessible to the public is the open Documents. Unpad has Rector decree for security classification and access to archives. “We have already assigned which could be accessed, which with limited access or which is highly confidential,” said Prof. Nandang.
In addition, he believed SIKN and JIKN would be very beneficial for those who are conducting studies or research. Searching the archive can be easily carried anywhere.
“So it is for the education, services, and security,” said Prof. Nandang.
What was done by ANRI, according to Prof. Nandang, was also in line with what was done Unpad. One of them is the implementation of e-office, as well as the future development of institutional memory. *
