[Unpad Media Channel] Universitas Padjadjaran’s Bridge Club (UKM Bridge) won silver at the 2024 ASEAN University Games held at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, on June 29-30.

The two Unpad students representing Indonesia at the tournament were Aida Zuraida, from the Faculty of Economics and Business, and Vanindya Fachruddin, from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Throughout the tournament, they had to compete against the best bridge players from other ASEAN countries, such as Singapore and Timor Leste. The pair managed to accumulate a Match Point (MP) of 57.03% placing them second overall.

On the first day, Zuraida and Fachruddin faced defeat in their first session while accumulating an MP of 43.75%. Afterwards, winning their second session with an MP of 53.13% placed them second in the competition. However, the three sessions after only placed them in the middle of the pack going into the second day.

The pair, however, managed to dominate the competition on the second day, accumulating an MP of 65.63%. Their accumulated Match Point from both days won them the silver medal by the end of the competition.

This tremendous achievement will hopefully motivate other Bridge players from Unpad to take on the challenge of representing their alma mater in upcoming competitions. (release/ICP)*
