[Unpad Media Channel] Kayra Afini Putri, an alumnus of Universitas Padjadjaran’s Television and Film study program, had her short film showcased at the Duemila30 International Short Film Festival in Milan, Italy on June 27-30.

The Duemila30 festival is a film festival dedicated to talented filmmakers from around the world and focuses on the themes of sustainable development and social inclusion. There were three main categories for the films showcased, namely Earth Echoes, Pathway to Wellbeing, and Liberty Rights.

According to a release received by Unpad Media Channel, Putri showcased her short film titled “Sisa Satu” (“Just One Left”), a film first made as her university final project with her partner for the project, M. Dhaffa Attoriq. The film got through the curation phase and entered the festival under the Earth Echoes category.

The film brings up the bashful nature of Indonesians, wrapping its themes of environmental issues within a comedic work. Shown at the Anteo Palazzo del Cinema, the film garnered positive responses from the international audience.

This shows the universal appeal of the movie’s story and presentation, despite it being in a foreign language.

Aside from the screening, the event also consisted of workshops and sharing sessions, allowing for opportunities for the participants to dive deeper on the various aspects of filmmaking, as well as to share their unique experiences with filmmakers and industry professionals from all over the world.
