[Unpad.ac.id, 23/08/2013] To expand cooperation in science and technology, the representative of the National Space and Airline Agency (Lapan) initiated cooperation with Unpad as told by the Agency’s Head of Secretary, Drs. Sri Kaloka Prabotosari in the visit to Unpad on Friday (23/08).
Officially greeted by the Vice Rector III, Dr. med. Setiawan, in his office, Prabotosari and other representatives from Lapan presented a number of points regarding the joint-operation in science and technology. Prabotosari suggested several potentials, one of which was remote sensing for agriculture and fishery. She then continued that the technology could be employed for technological and scientific development in agriculture, forestry, and fishery.
In addition, they also offered a number of applications and technologies at Lapan for the development in the field of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, and Environment. Lapan even offered opportunities for Unpad’s lecturers and students to do internship and research at Lapan. Besides internship, the agency also proposed several projects such as joint research, journal publication, and joint seminar. For scientific publication, Lapan had already had four accredited journals which needed more contributions.
After the visit, Prabotosari explained that there were several important points to pursue. One of the points includes human resources. “Human resources in Lapan have not been satisfactory yet. Therefore; this cooperation is expected to improve the human resources quality at our agency, both for academic purposes and scientific researches” said she. Setiawan also expressed his expectation that the initiation of cooperation did not only include the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), but also improve and proceed the existing projects, nd hopefully this will be consistent and lasting.
