[Unpad.ac.id, 12/10/2016] As one form of Unpad awareness to the threat of natural disasters in the region Jatinangor, Universitas Padjadjaran held socialization of disaster mitigation activities at the Central Laboratory Building Jatinangor, Tuesday (11/10). The purpose of this activity is simulating disaster mitigation in Unpad and its anticipation.
This socialization is a collaboration of several organizations with different study led by professor of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unpad, Dr. Iwan Hastiawan, MS. On the occasion, the Health Safety Environment (HSE) FTG Unpad conducted simulation of disaster mitigation to show what to do during fire strike disaster. Presenting at this event were Director of Facilities and Infrastructure Universitas Padjadjaran, Yuyun Yuniardi, ST., MT., and Director of Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Ir. Mustafa Kemal Heryawan, MSc.
The socialization keynote speaker was Dr. Ir. Dicky Muslim, M.Sc., of the Faculty of Engineering Geology Unpad. On his presentation, he explained that the area Jatinangor is the tip of Lembang Fault located in the northern part of Mount Manglayang. “If there was a shift in the fault that it can cause an imbalance,” said Ir. Diky Muslim.
The level of awareness of disaster is required so that we know what we should do when disaster strikes. “It takes a collective consciousness. We are united when we’re together,” said Ir. Diky Muslim. Mutual awareness is important so that when Unpad is suddenly hit by natural disasters, everything was ready and everyone knows what to do. With all the potential threat of natural disasters in the region Jatinangor Unpad is expected to be ready and responsive. *
