[Unpad.ac.id, 13/12/2016] Study Program Food Technology Faculty of Agriculture Industrial Technology Unpad obtained accreditation ranked “A” from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN PT) based on Decree No. 2728 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / S / XI / 2016 as of 24 November 2016 until 24 November 2021.

Head of Study Program Food Technology Program Unpad, Dr. Tita Rialita, S.Si., M.Sc., said that the acquisition of this accreditation is the third achievement by the study program of Food Technology since its founding in 1996. Earlier in the range of 2010 to 2015, Prodi obtained accreditation “B”, and in 2005-2010 was accredited “A”.
Dr. Tita said, there are several reasons for the accreditation process to be rated B. It is based on the number of Food Technology professor who was studying abroad for doctorate. “At that time, HR personnel is reduced, so the calculation of the ratio of lecturers and students was not balanced,” said Dr. Tita when met at his office on Tuesday (13/12).
After the accreditation expired in 2015, there was a transition period of FTIP location lecture to the new building. This led to the preparation of the accreditation forms be slightly delayed. Then in July 2016, three forms that required documents finalized and submitted to the BAN PT. In mid-October, Prodi then was visited by two assessors from BAN PT, namely Dr. Gatot Priyanto from Sriwijaya University and Prof. Dr. Yudi Pranoto from Universitas Gadjah Mada.
“Thank God, now lectures are good. Many have returned to lecturer. We gained many achievements and eventually (accreditation) raised again,” said Dr. Tita.
During the preparation of the accreditation forms, Prodi was accompanied by a team of Quality Assurance Unit of the Faculty and Quality Assurance Unit (SPM), Unpad. Of the seven standards set your form, it divided the roles to the team to devise a standard one. In addition, at any time of visitation Prodi did a good communication with the team of assessors.
Further, Dr. Tita said that the acquisition of this accreditation is important for the future development of the study program. Primarily, the accreditation of a provision for prospective students wishing to apply to study programs of Food Technology. If accreditation is good, then the course value will be higher.
In addition, accreditation is also a provision for graduates that will be pursue career in the world of work. Currently, accreditation became one of the considerations in the working world. “This accreditation is actually qualified workforce to whether or not the program of study,” said Dr. Tita.
Meanwhile, Dean of FTIP Unpad, Dr. Edy Suryadi, Ir., M.T., appreciated the achievement of accreditation A for study programs of Food Technology. “This achievement is very important for the credibility FTIP, since Food Technology is a study program which has the most demand. Thank you for the hard work and commitment, especially from the entire faculty and students, who have been preparing and completing the accreditation forms for several months finally sweet fruit produce accreditation, “said Dr. Edy.
Furthermore, with the acquisition of this accreditation, Study Program Food Technology Unpad is expected to parallel its quality with similar study programs at other universities, among others with department of Food Technology opened in four state universities in Indonesia, namely: University of Gadjah Mada, Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung Institute of Technology, and the Bogor Agricultural Institute.
Thus, every department of Food Technology is expected to have its own advantages. Food Technology Unpad, said Dr. Tita, will focus on the development of the starchy through SYSPRO technology and Cellpoint. “Each should have featured. So if later graduate student, he would be certain experts, “said Dr. Tita.
The next target is to set up in several Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of every activity in study programs based on the evaluation team of assessors. Next year, Prodi will pass the Food Analysis Laboratory to obtain ISO 17025 from the National Accreditation Office. Furthermore, it also will pursue the target of achieving international accreditation from the International Food Technology (IFT) in 2018. *
