[Unpad.ac.id, 15/01/2013] Unpad recently received a unit of shuttle bus from PT Pupuk Kaltim. It was symbolically handed in on Tuesday in Bale Rucita Unpad Rectorate Building in Jatinangor.
PT Pupuk Kaltim, Tedy Nawardin, handed in the bus symbolically to the rector before Unpad officials and deans. The bus is expected to help students and faculties to travel easily. Unpad has previously received several shuttle buses from BNI and Bank Mandiri who are in partnership programs with the university.
As for PT. Pupuk Kaltim, the company donated the shuttle bus as a part of its corporate social responsibility.
Unpad students give a unique name to all the shuttle buses. They call it ‘odong-odong.’ “We heard it a lot. We were curious what odong-odong was. So, we did our research and decided to donate one unit of odong-odong to Unpad. Thank goodness our odong-odong can now be ridden,” said Nawardin.
Apart from the donation, PT Pupuk Kaltim is thinking of establishing more partnership programs. The company is to hold communication training for teachers that PT Pupuk Kaltim hires. PT Pupuk Kaltim also runs a school for their staff’s children. “The MoU is to be signed today with Unpad Faculty of Communication Science,” said Nawardin.
