[Unpad.ac.id, 7/04/2016] Implementation of “Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar” Program in in Pangandaran Regency has progressed. After consolidation with the team, Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad said Unpad has three plans to jointly develop the area in Pangandaran Regency.

Rector has stated during the meeting with Pangandaran Regent Jeje Wiradinata in Pangandaran Regent Office, Wednesday (6/04). In the meeting, Vice Regent of Pangandaran H. Adang Hadari, and Pangandaran Regent Regional Secretary Mahmud, S.H., M.H. were also present.

Three cooperation focus in Pangandaran included regional development through Padjadjaran University’s Strategic Alliance program – Jabar (Asup Jabar), the development of multi-campus university in Pangandaran, as well as establishment of the Bumi Walagri Padjadjaran.
For implementation of Asup Jabar program, Rector has assigned a team led by Yuyu Yohana Risagarniwa, PhD to support the region strengthening in Pangandaran regency. A multidisciplinary team would fundamentally consist of three branches of science, namely Development Studies, Public Administration, and State Administration.
“Other scientific branch will be tailored to the needs of Pangandaran,” said Rector.
The plan for higher education development program in Pangandaran was also supported by Governor of West Java. Unpad had assigned Professors under the coordination Prof. Engkus Kuswarno. The initial target was to open a study program operations outside the campus.
Furthermore, Prof. Engkus said that program opening is to prepare human resources for establishment of an independent college in the future. To that end, in the early stages of implementation, Unpad will hold off-campus study program for Master and Diploma 2 (Community College). The opening of Master program is to prepare candidates for college lecturers independently in Pangandaran.
“Thus university establishment orientation here should also prepare its human resources. We prepare its human resources first through master education. Our target was that Master program will be completed in two years so within the next two years later the university here will be opened, “he said.
Meanwhile diploma program opening aimed to prepare skilled labor tailored to the needs of Pangandaran. The study program plan would be tailored to the potential of Pangandaran, including tourism, agriculture, and maritime.
The planned establishment of Bumi Walagri Padjadjaran would be focused in the Cimerak subdistrict, the westernmost districts in Pangandaran. This district is not as advanced as other districts in Pangandaran district and has access to the most remote locations of other districts. This Bumi Walagri is targeted to begin operations this year.
“The establishment of Bumi Walagri is not only a health facility, but also for other scientific purpose,” said Rector.
At the meeting, Rector also discussed related scholarship program “Star Project” in cooperation with Unpad Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). According to Rector, this program is to provide education for 30 people expert financial managers from 27 City/Regency in West Java.*
