[Unpad Media Channel] To improve the value of some MSME products from Pangandaran, the professor of Business Administration of Universitas Padjadjaran from Pangandaran Campus Sari Usih Natari, S.TP, M.M. provides guidance in the creation of product identity e-design.
This is done considering many MSMEs at Pangadaran who have been selling products for a long time but not presenting their brand identity.
“If some friends come to Pangandaran, they only buy products, such as food, beverages, or fashion. However, there is not a brand inside (the products) even though the shop is among the old ones. Therefore, I want to help the MSME there to create their own design, at least from their secondary packaging design,” said Sari on InovTalk, which Unpad YouTube Channel streamed a while ago.
Thus, aside from increasing the product’s value, Sari hopes that people, especially the tourists who buy the products from Pangandaran, can remember the product more efficiently and where it comes from. The products from Pangandaran can also be improved.
Sari, who works as a professor at Unpad Pangandaran Campus, sees more product potential which can be developed to advance Pangandaran further. At least for the last five years, Sari and her team have collaborated with some communities and MSMEs to guide the design’s creation or development.
As stated by Sari, in its practice, the Unpad team provide guidance in finding the identity of each product, including the distinctive characteristics compared to another product.
“For example is jambal roti (a traditional dish made from shredded and seasoned fried fish). Jambal roti is popular. Then, we find the uniqueness from one the sellers,” stated Sari.
Sari also delivers a message for those who start their business. According to her, the important thing is the courage to start. If we are afraid to try, the experience will not be gained. Sari and her team also opened an opportunity to establish a partnership.
“My suggestion is let’s dare to start any business venture, as long as it’s lawful,” Sari said. (arm/SA)*
