[Unpad.ac.id, 20/03/2016] A number of programs carried out by Universitas Padjadjaran was expected to not only improve students and campus quality, but also have a broad impact for the community, especially in Jatinangor District. After carrying out a number of programs by involving citizens Jatinangor, now Unpad embraced residents around campus to participate in of a number of implemented new programs.

This was conveyed by Rector, Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, during a meeting with the Head Jatinangor Drs. Maman Wasman along with representatives of the village chiefs in Jatinangor Subdistrict in Bale Rucita Rectorate Building Campus Jatinangor, Saturday (03/19). Also in attendance were Vice Rectors, Directors, Deans, and student representatives in Unpad.
Four main programs were delivered by Rector at the meeting. The first program plan is related to environmental regulation of Jatinangor. The arrangement was done by campus green program and reduction of exhaust emission levels of vehicles on campus.
“We will start the environmental planning from campus and throughout Jatinangor,” said Rector.
In relation to reduction of emissions, Rector planned to curb the number of vehicles passing by on campus. “As much as possible to reduce the number of vehicles on campus,” he added.
With this plan, there would be restrictions on the number of vehicles allowed to enter the campus, including eliminating of modes of transport motorcycles on campus.
“We are aware of the presence of motorcycles in Unpad society can prosper, then the loss of motorcycles on campus, people should also remain prosperous. We are still responsible, “said Rector.
Not only motorcycles, said Rector, vehicle of academics and education personnel Unpad will also be restricted. Therefore, the program will increase the number of transport facilities within the campus as the main access to the building in the campus Jatinangor.
“Friends who have been providing motorcycle service will be asked to be involved in managing transportation within the campus. Even campus shuttles to transport students from the boarding house to the campus or vice versa, “said Rector.
The second program to be implemented is relating to standardization of boarding house in Jatinangor. In the upcoming academic year, Unpad will require all freshmen to live in a dorm for their first year. In the second year, students are encouraged to stay in the boarding house that has been standardized in Jatinangor.
“In the first year we educate them students on campus. In the second year they are expected to be able to mingle with the people while maintaining the pattern of life, manners, and characters are not just for themselves but also to transform society, “he explained.
The third program is implementation of one-gate campus entry and exit. The current condition has few numbers of entry/exit access to Jatinangor. The one-gate policy is to support order and arrangement of Jatinangor environment. “Because too many gates would bring a variety of risks,” said Rector.
The final plan is to strengthen contribution of communities to manage Universitas Padjadjaran campus and improve public health quality in Jatinangor.
Responding to the program plan, Wasman stated his appreciation. “We will support these efforts. I think building a building in Jatinangor was easy, but the important thing is how to create social conditions that could support Jatinangor as a prototype area of education, “said Wasman. *
