Yudi Nurul Ihsan, M.Si., said that, since its establishment in 2006, Marine Science study program has only implemented its first accreditation in 2011. The main reason for obtaining the rank C at the time was that they had not yet produced any graduates of Marine Science study program.

In order to achieve the target of better accreditation, Dr. Yudi who is also a lecturer in the department of Marine Science, said that since 2015, the Study Program began to focus on rearranging the accreditation forms. With the hard work of all staff assisted a team of Marine Sciences Quality Assurance Unit (UPM) faculty and Quality Assurance Unit (SPM) Unpad, the Study Program has produced three form documents, ie study program accreditation forms 3A, 3B borang faculty, and self-evaluation document.

Each form contains the prescribed standards of BAN PT, ranging from vision and mission of the university, faculty, and Prodi, standard governance and management of institutions, standards of students and graduates, curriculum standards of learning and academic atmosphere, standard of facilities and infrastructure, to standard research, collaboration, and community service.

Three accreditation forms were sent to BAN PT in July. Then, on August 22 to 23 last, the two assessors of BAN PT, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Mulyono S. Baskoro, M.Sc., (IPB), and Ir. M. Iqbal Djawad M.Sc., PhD (University of Hasanuddin) did visitation to the Marine Science Study Program Unpad.

“It’s a great asset to opportunities, alumni became more confident, and this is an opportunity to open a course in Multicampus Pangandaran,” said Dr. Yudi.

In addition, the study program will also pursue the target of achieving international accreditation from AUN-QA and IMarEST (accreditation agency specialized department of Marine Sciences). To attain this international accreditation, Fisheries Science study programs that have already obtained accreditation will begin drafting an international accreditation.
