Dr. Keri Lestari Dandan, MSi., Apt Receives Inspirational Award from RMOL

[Unpad.ac.id, 22/03/2013] Dr. Keri Lestari Dandan, MSi., Apt., a lecturer at the faculty of pharmacy Unpad, was recently given inspirational award from the Rakyat Merdeka Online (RMOL) for her success in developing medicine for diabetes and cholesterol from non-chemical ingredients. Receiving similar awards were national figures such as Shinta Nuriyah, Taufik Kiemas, Okke Hatta Radjasa, and the governor of Jakarta, Djoko Widodo, Rizal Ramli, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Denny JA, the minister of Cooperative, Syarief Hassan, Aji Surya, Triyanto, and Agus Chaerudin.

RMOL is an annual event organized to show appreciations to people who have given great contribution to the advancement of the nation’s life. In the selection processes, it involves experts and analysts in various discipline in a series of intensive discussions.

According to Dandan, her success does not simply belong to herself. She was chosen because of great supports from the vice dean I of the faculty of Pharmacy, her promoters, Professor Anas Subarna, Prof. Sri Hartini Kariadi, Prof. Tri Hanggono, Andi Wijaya PhD, Prof. JK. Hwang, and colleagues as well as students in the faculty.

As reported in earlier news, Dandan successfully developed anti-diabetic medicine derived from the extract of nutmeg seed. This non-chemical ingredient is seen as one of the biggest innovation in the pharmaceutical world.
