[Unpad.ac.id, 26/05/2016] Students of Universitas Padjadjaran was the winner of the 7th Soil Science Jamboree Indonesia held by Indonesia Soil Science Students Communication Forum (Fokushimiti) in Universitas Sriwijaya Palembang, 15-21 May 2016. The overall winner was decided after the students of Members of Soil Science and Field Resources Student Association (Himatan) Faculty of Agriculture Unpad won second place for Soil Judging Contest, second and favorite spot for Photography competition, first place for Poster, and Best Costume.
“Fokushimiti held Soil Science Jamboree Indoenesia (JITI) and Scientific Week of National Soil Science Students (Pilmitanas) every other year. In 2016 we became the overall winner of JITI. In 2015, we were also the the overall winner in Pilmitanas,” said Fajar Maulana, Chairman of Himatan Unpad, met in Rectorate Building Unpad, Thursday (26/05) with other Himatan member, Arby Falahul Haq.
Students participating in JITI were Teddy Marpaung, Putri Tamara, Ismail Hasvi, Juli Enita Sinaga, and Winona Retni Pawestri, with 6 companions, Fajar Maulana, Arby Falahul Haq, Fiolya Alifa, Melani, Zaky Abdul Haris, and Ammar Muhtadi. Participating in JITI 2016 were 18 universities from all around Indonesia of Fokushimiti, of Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universitas Andalas.
Second place of Soil Judging Contest were Teddy Marpaung, Putri Tamara, and Juli Enita Sinaga, second and favorite photography was Winona Retni Pawestri, who also received Best Costume award. The first place of Poster was won by Ismail Hasvi.
“The pitch was that in soil judging competition, we not only researching mineral soil but in this jamboree we studied peat and marshland since Palembang has them all. Other participants may have been familiar with the three types but we did not. Yet, good thing we can still win second place,” said Arby.*
