On the occasion, Unpad delegation was received by Head of Personnel, Education, and Training Sumedang Regency, Dadi Mulyadi, as well as representatives of the Heads of Division of Sumedang.

“Sumedang in particular has become an integral part of Unpad,” said Rector.

ASUP Jabar program is a follow-up program of Unpad Nyaah ka Jabar focused on the development of 27 City/Regency in West Java. Sumedang itself has potential through the integration of science with community service.

Rector said process of regional development can not be done only one city/regency alone. This involves the participation of various parties, from the city/other districts, to businesses and media.

“The various elements of these should be twined together to solve regional problems,” he explained.

Through the program, Rector hoped for an effective collaboration between Unpad and Sumedang. Rector also asked the Sumedang regency to not hesitate to provide recommendations to jointly develop the potential that can be done by Unpad.

Furthermore, Rector said that one of the collaboration potentials was to improve Affected People’s welfare (OTD) from region of Jatigede. This potential has been done through leading research universities of Academic Leadership Grant (ALG) program, chaired by Professor of Social and Political Science, Prof. Opan S. Suwartapradja.

“Comprehensively we resolve to promote regional development. Not only Jatigede, Jatinangor also has potential with great challenges. It required an integrated cooperation,” he said.

After socialization, Prof. Opan Jatigede ALG research was presented. In response to the visit, Dadi appreciated Unpad approaches in West Java. “Problems in Sumedang can not be resolved by sector but should be done comprehensively. Initiation of a variety of components, including various multidisciplinary science, and society is required,” said Dadi.

After the socializing event, Rector conducted a site visit in the district KKNM Jatitujuh, Majalengka Regency. Three villages were visited in Jatitujuh region, including Biyawak village, Panyingkiran village, and Babajurang village.

In front of the students, Rector posed question of what student has acquired after several days carrying out KKNM. During KKNM, Rector advised that students become part of the interaction between locals on site.

Some of the positive things that happened in the village should be able to apply well in Jatinangor, as Unpad student activity space. To that end, the Rector asked the students to be able to implement the various positive values in Jatinangor. *
