[Unpad.ac.id, 7/11/2016] Universitas Padjadjaran through UPT Mosque Management held Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an Week (MTQ) for Unpad students, 7-14 November 2016. 250 participants form all the faculties will compete to be the Unpad representation for National MTQ in 2017.

The Head of organizer Dr. Hazbini, M.Ag., said that this year MTQ week is comprised of 6 competition categories, namely Qur’an recitations by 14 participants; Qiro’ah sab’ah by 2 participants; Hifdzil Qur’an, of 1 Juz by 41 participants, 5 Juz by 15 participants, and 10 Juz by five participants; Syarhil Qur’an by 9 groups; Fahmil Qur’an 15 groups; and design application category of Qur’an followed by four participants. All these categories are the same with categories at the national level.

“This year Unpad Student MTQ Week is different from the previous one,” said Dr. Hazbini, while delivering a report on the opening of the Week of MTQ in the courtyard of Masjid Raya Padjadjaran University Campus Jatinangor, Monday (7/11).

The difference was, said Dr. Hazbini, that this year’s event uses several sites in all faculties in Jatinangor. In addition, the usually closed competition now could be accessed by the entire academic community of Unpad.

Furthermore, the Arab Literature Study Program lecturer said that further difference is that the long coaching period that will be given for participants who qualify for the national level. If the previous period of coaching was only held a few days before the MTQ national level, then at this time, training will be conducted from January 2017 until before of the event of MTQ national level.

“Until now, national MTQ has not settled on the event date, but we will start the coaching next January, “said Dr. Hazbini.

By the representation in all categories of the competition, it can be ascertained that Unpad can send delegates to entire categories of competition at the national level MTQ.

In addition to the competition, National Seminar on “Optimization of Zakat in Community Development” will be also held on Wednesday (9/11). This seminar is planned to feature West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad, and Director of the Graduate University of Ibn Khaldun Prof. Dr. KH. Didier Hafidhuddin, M.S as speakers.

The MTQ week was opened by Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Unpad, Dr. Arry Bainus, M.A. Besides Dr. Arry, the opening ceremony was also attended by the Director of Student and Alumni Unpad Dr. Heryawan Kemal Mustafa, M.Sc., Head of Unit Management Unpad Mosque Hadiyanto A. Rachim, S. Sos., M.I.Kom., And Chief of Academic Administration Bureau Unpad Drs. Sudarma, M.M.

In his speech, Dr. Arry said that the university strongly supports the implementation of this MTQ week. He hoped that MTQ Week will not be just a vehicle for the competition, but also can be a medium of learning and can produce a variety of joint research. *
